Celebrating in Namibia

I have some changes to my trip that I am excited to share with everyone. For starters, I have made a nice leap in my fundraising. It is always an encouragement to me when I get to update my thermometer. In addition to that my departure date was moved up last week. Instead of leaving July 9th, I will now be leaving June 21, and returning on July 25. The reasoning behind moving the trip date up, is that we have an exceptionally small team this year. In order to make our time there more productive we decided to team up with a group from South Africa that will be in Namibia at the same time. I am really excited about this change, since it means that I will be 100% in Namibia for my 21st birthday. (How many people can say that they celebrated their birthday in Africa) However this also means that I am less than 2 months away from my trip, which is making me essentially stalk my fundraising page :) Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, it truly means a lot to me. To those of you who haven't donated yet but would like to. You can click my photo in the upper left side of the blog and it will bring you to my donation page.

A final little note. It was mention to me that one of my donors never received the thank you note that i sent them. If anyone else has not received a note PLEASE let me know. Even if only for me let me confirm that I did receive the donation.

THANKS AGAIN

The Trials and Joys of Fundraising

With fundraising comes many different life experiences. One of these experiences,  is to learn how to better communicate your needs in a honest and humble way. It is hard to have a lot of pride and ask people for their support at the same time. It also allows an opportunity to reconnect, and grow previous relationships. This has been an amazing chance for me to depend on those around me, and to feel their presence and love in ways that i wouldn't have previously.
Essentially, until I actually leave for my trip this "blog" will be more updates about my fundraising, with the occasional life lesson of college thrown in. Once i actually get to Africa, this blog will serve as "weekly" updates to everyone back home. Lastly, once i return from Africa this blog will serve as a chance for me to share some more detailed stories about my trip, and my photos. I hope that everyone enjoys this little piece of my life. It means a lot to me to have this opportunity. Both in terms of sharing it with all of you, as well as getting the chance to share it with the Namibian people. Thank you for taking the time to share in this journey with me.
